Finished this biography last night and really marvelled at Nicky Barr's experiences during WWII. I found myself wanting more detail and information than provided in this 200+ pages about Nicky's 'adventures' and really noticed the absence of illustrations and photos. The 'Australian Story' episode led me to buy the book.

Very enjoyable bio. of an amazing man.

A very enjoyable and easy read true story about a remarkable and humble individual. It reads true and doesnt seem embelished like some of these books tend to.
The first half of the book provides a good detailed feeling on what the air battles over North Africa were like whilst the second half is an amazing story of human perseverence, luck, and an insight into the vagaries of war behind enemy lines.
The story of this one man's war has so many facets that there could have been more than one book written on his exploits.
Personally I would have liked even more detail than provided, however as it is written it never becomes bogged down.
Highly recommended.
