This is one of the best ww2 war book I have ever read,I can fully understand why his troops called him uncle frank, What fantastic reading,I believe he was the most decorated general in the british army. I congratulate the author on his choice of subject, only Bill Slims story can be compared with it for excitement, bravery, sorrow,
and courage. A book I can thoroughly recomend.

A general who came back in from the cold
Perhaps one of the best insights to the battle of the "Admin Box" and his concepts and tactics that allowed of service support units to continue to function and defend themselves whilst in close contact with the enemy - many lessons from this that were developed upon in Vietnam.
A throughly informative insight from the early days in the desert to his retaking of Mandalay at the head of Slims VIII Army.
Lots of lessons and an engrosing read.
