Good until the end, with all the court martial stuff.

As a survivor, this was the best book on the subject and about the first. Someone has added a supplement since the origional author is not in a condition to add information about the 12 year old kid who got the Navy to recind Captain's court marshall.l.

I like this book. Read it way back in high school. Its the first of the number of good Indianapolis books that exposed the navy's coverup and scapegoating of Capt.McVay. Richard Newcomb was way ahead of his time when he wrote this book. It also helped many Indianapolis get together for reunions. I recently picked up an original 1958 edition at a thrift shop and the updated edition from the local library. Love 'em both. How can anyone say this book is boring? The survivors liked it, said it was like a bible ,and made Richard Newcomb an honorary survivor so that says something about Abandon Ship's quality. Can't say no more than that.
