Rates this book: 5 star

I have read many books about World War Two, including many biographies, but this one is without doubt the best of all. Art Sager is a gifted narrator, and has described his wartime years with great irony and objectivity. He writes about all the operational aspects, but also about the disappointments and satisfactions of being a wartime fighter pilot, about the great variety of personalities encountered, about losing friends and meeting new ones, and about the disturbing consequences of war in all its facets. When you start reading this book, you will find it difficult to put it down. It is a must-have for anyone interested in wartime aviation.
