The single best book on World War II I have read. Good military account of battles and campaigns; astute political history that illuminates the importance of Stalin and the history of Russia's involvement; and clear analysis that explains why the war was protracted after Allied victory was certain, and why the post-war world was shaped as it was. Well written.
