A very good action filled book. This volume is part of the trilogy of this authors work on the Guadalcanal campaign. There are lots of close-in detail of the numerous battles around the perimeter during the critical phase of the American hold on the island.
The author gives a brief description of the naval battles as they unfolded. These are dealt with in much greater detail in the other two books in this trilogy. A very good account of the people who carved out America's first island victory in the savage war of the Pacific.
