I own the original first edition of 1948 of this book, purchased by my father who had been wounded in action in Cushman's Pocket on Iwo Jima. Dad was a 2nd Lt, E Co, 2 Btn, 9th Marines, and he went ashore on D-Day 3. A couple of pages have his hand-written annotations relevant to his own part in the battle, written while it was still all fresh in his mind.
