Notes from Stone & Stone

A thorough, data-intensive explication of Korsun/Cherkassy leavened with informative snippets of personal experiences during the battle. Mostly -- but not entirely -- focused on the German point of view.

Rates this book: 1 star

The authors narrative text appears to be based on the authors perceptions of Russian and German Commanders, and the Korsun Operation in General, German and Russian Operational and Tactic problems are mentioned, infested with inconsistent detail, and the authors interpretation of events that happened. The information collated in the book, appears to be a transcription of Official Records without any operational study by the authors , that project some inconclusive information gaps, of the Lower Level Tactical Orders of Battle, that were committed , by the Red Army but not identified by the authors in this book, considering that these lesser actions contributed to the outcome of this Operation is a critical oversight that is missing.
