Lee Burtman I have had the honor of writing a World War II memoir for an 85-year-old veteran. Ken Krueger of Minnesota was a 19-year-old motor messenger in Patton's Third Army, who was entrusted with delivering written correspondence from Corps Headquarters to the various divisions at the Front in France, Germany and Austria. These secret, coded messages were critical to the defeat of the Nazis. Ken shares his harrowing experiences driving his jeep in pitch darkness across Europe, dodging snipers, Tiger tanks and tank traps, Stukas, land mines and railway guns while attempting to deliver his precious cargo. Ken also tenderly recalls meeting his first love while stationed in France and how that relationship sustained him as he later witnessed the unspeakable horrors of Dachau and other Nazi atrocities. Ken's memoir offers an unforgettable glimpse into the life of one of the Greatest Generation's unsung heroes. Burtman, Lee based on memories of Ken Krueger
